Why does my nest camera not pick up kids movement or crying during the night?

Why does my nest camera not pick up kids movement or crying during the night? It’s super frustrating. We try to use it as security but also as a monitor for kids and I upgraded to the 2nd gen after they quit producing the 1st gen nest cam and can’t seem to get alerts. Please help!

What exact camera do you have?  Your post says "Nest Doorbell (wired Gen 2)", but I don't think you're using a doorbell in your kid's room.

Do you have notifications turned on for "Motion"?

If you have the 2nd gen Google Nest Battery Camera, it is not very good at detecting motion at night.

And none of the 2nd gen cameras and doorbells have notifications for sound events , except for carbon monoxide and smoke detector alarms.

Yes I’m so sorry!  It the doorbell, the camera. So it won’t notify me of people sounds or dog barks etc like the 1st generation did?

Unfortunately, no. I don't know why Google Nest decided its 2nd gen cameras would have fewer capabilities than its 1st gen cameras.
