Mini doesn't work as chime with wired Doorbell

Short: My Mini doesn’t announce visitors even though I do receive notifications on my iPhone from my Doorbell via Nest App.

Long: I’ve bought the black Doorbell (wired) as I wanted to be more environmentally friendly. Then I bought Mini to use it as a chime. I set up the Doorbell through Nest App and the Mini through Google Home App as it’s not supported by Nest (Yes, I need to run two separate apps). Now, the Doorbell appears in both Nest and Google Home App but the Mini only in Google Home App.

The Doorbell in Nest App has: Camera, Indoor Chime, Notifications and Visitor Announcements toggled ON.

The Doorbell in Google Home App has: Voice Notifications ON; and that’s the only thing available to toggle.

The Mini (in Google Home App) has: Notifications toggled ON, and Night Mode, Do Not Disturb OFF. There is no ‘Visitor Announcements’ available.

My Doorbell and Mini are in the same household and in the same room (also connected to the same Wi-Fi).

I’ve spent over 8h (across two weeks) talking to the Google Support Team but no one was able to help me. We went through everything, including reinstalling, factory reseting, etc. They said they’ll come back to me, and 9 days later still no one has. How disappointing!

Side note: Every time we went through the same procedures as the team couldn’t view the conversation from my previous cases. What’s the whole point in Case IDs then?!

My ID Cases are:

1-5832000036359

4-2725000035818

9-1741000035907

4-7633000036553

Since I can’t get help from Google (wtf?!) maybe someone here would know what to do? Thanks in advance!

Hi @Pawel1991,

Thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you're going through this trouble activating the visitor announcement. It can be frustrating when your device isn't working as expected. Don't worry, I'm here to help.

Since you've already activated the visitor announcement, there may be some factors preventing it from working correctly. Here are a few things you can try:

  • Please make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  • Ensure the Doorbell and the Nest Mini are in the same Home structure.
  • Check if Do Not Disturb is activated on your Nest Mini. If so, you can turn it off by saying "Hey Google, turn off Do Not Disturb."
  • Say this command: "Hey Google, sync all my devices." This syncs the devices that are under your account.

I really appreciate your effort and time trying to resolve the inconvenience. Please keep me updated how it goes.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hello @sicsacol

Thanks for responding, however your suggestions make me think you didn't read my post thoroughly. You'd know I've done all the points listed by you except for the last one which wasn't successful.

Cheers,

Pawel
