No devices available when I try to cast music

Is anyone else having trouble with YouTube music, Amazon music and Spotify finding their Google home devices? Every day it seems I try to connect and get "no devices found" or "searching..." but nothing ever comes up. Usually a phone restart will fix it, but today it didn't. I'm overall sick of having to restart my device all the time just to listen to music on my nest hub, nest hub max, or Google speakers.

Hi @Bonniez,

It's frustrating to constantly restart your device just to cast music. The good news is there are a few other things you can try besides a phone restart:

  • Wi-Fi Connection: Double-check that both your phone and casting device are on the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes devices can jump on different bands (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) which can cause connectivity issues.

  • Restart Devices: A restart can often clear up temporary glitches. Reboot your phone, casting device (Nest Hub, etc.) and your router.

  • Local Network Access: On iPhones (iOS 14 and later), make sure "Local Network Access" is enabled for the music apps you use to cast (e.g. Youtube Music, Spotify). This allows the apps to discover cast-enabled devices on your network.

  • App Updates: Ensure you are using the latest versions of the casting app and the Google Home app. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements.

Best,

Brandon.
