I have a g Suite account and just purchased Nest...

Was this a waste of money or is their anyway to add my husband who is also a g suite user??

And what about children who have icloud emails or school emails?? Do they need a gmail email to access??

Unfortunately, you can't invite a Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) account to be a home member. In the relevant help article, you'll see this note:

You can't invite anyone using a: Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) account

You can invite iCloud or school emails, but they must have a Google account associated with that email address.

I would also bear in mind that when someone becomes a member of a home, they have the same access as you as the home owner, including full access and control of all devices, service and settings.
