How to stop ads in google home app notifications

All I have in my G Home app is one Nest thermostat. The in-app notifications have been including a lot of ads for other products when all I expect and want is the info from the thermostat. Is it possible to make that stop? It's very annoying because it shows the same red notification dot for the ads as for heat/cool activity.
