spinning and spinning

Nest app issue, on Android (Samsung 21 Ultra and 21 Base).

Since the last update, when I tap on the app to open it up, all I see is the "spinning blue circle" for minutes on end. This issue is seen on two different smartphones.

I've let the Nest app sit for over five minutes, watching ... continues to spin (see screenshot).

If I tap on any of the cameras, it does display the current view. But even tapping on each camera in turn, after they each display the current view, I tap "back" to go to the main screen, and there we go again, spinning blue circle.

Yes, I've done a "Force Stop" on the app, then a "Clear Cache" over and over. This happens on two *different* phone devices that I've listed.

If I log into the web version of Nest on a desktop, I can see all camera views as expected - so this is obviously related to something recent with the Nest app update - I'm on version 5.70.0.9, updated on Dec 2, 2022.

UPDATE (12/12/2022) ... I did a "Force Stop" on the app, then a "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data", then uninstalled the Nest app. Then installed it afresh from the Play Store. Same problem PERSISTS.

Creo que el problema radica en la versión de Android 13, puesto que en un galaxy note 9 con Android 10 "reconoce" los dispositivos que no son del ecosistema Google, (xiaomi, Meross, Smart Life etc...) y lo he podido vincular nuevamente desde el note 9, pero con el Galaxy S22 Ultra, como está en la versión 13, no puedo hacer nada, no me reconoce los servicios de terceros... Algún problema tendrá Google, pero no pueden tardar tanto, puesto que es un "servicio esencial", además de la guerra que ellos mismos están dando.

Thanks, but that's not the problem. We are running Android 12 One UI 4.x. We have NOT upgraded to A13.

As I mentioned, the problem showed up AFTER the most recent Nest app update. It worked fine BEFORE the update happened.

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem, which started a few days ago. Running Android 13, and Nest 5.70.0.9

I'm having the same problem with Samsung Galaxy S22+. My old Galaxy S8 & an old Galaxy tablet works fine. Something changed in last update.

I'm having the same issue. It just started. I open the app and both cameras I have show spinning blue circles. I click the the camera and then it will work. If I back out to the main screen the cameras are just black with spinning circles.

Guess what ... many other folks are reporting "one star" and commenting on the exact same issue

I am having the same issues over the last two days and have a Samsung S22 Ultra. When I click on each individual video feed, I see the video right away. I also tried force stopping and uninstalling/reinstalling and it didn't fix the issue.

I noticed the same thing. If I disable Power Saving mode, it works fine

Well, my goodness - if I turn off Power Saving , it does work as expected - thanks!!

However, it WAS working as expected BEFORE the last update, even with Power Saving on. I enabled Power Saving when I got this phone, 1 - 1/2 years ago. So, for all that time, the main screen worked, until the last update was applied.

I played with the power saving mode. If you turn off Power Saving Mode, and turn off limit CPU to 70% , but leave the other items checked, it works faster on my Galaxy S22+, without having much effect on battery life. Hopefully, Google will fix this in their next NEST update.

Yea, if I disable Power Saving, my expected battery life decreases by 8+ hours. And I also use Protect Battery (on an S21 Ultra), which only charges to 85%, then stops. I'd rather have Power Saving on, as I always have ... I'm not a gamer and don't use the phone "to it's limit", so don't need all the extra computing power - that's what my Linux desktops and laptops are for 🙂

Well, just got an update to the Nest app about 15 minutes ago. Guess what - the main screen NOW shows camera previews as it should. And to be clear, I DO have Power Saving enabled.

My wife's S21 also got the update and the main screen now works on her phone, with Power Saving enabled.

So, obviously, the Nest development team found the issue and fixed it.

This post has ZERO to do with speakers

However, I'm the OP, and I've posted twice that this issue has been resolved.

If you're hoping for 100% consensus from the other respondents, I doubt that'll happen - lock it 👍
