Changing the language nest mini understands

I wanted to get Google Nest Mini to understand more languages than English... I managed to add a new language - Russian - into Google Assistant, but it did not allow the Nest Mini to understand me or my mother...

This Google Nest Help page says "Changes to Assistant's language affect all Google Nest and Home devices linked to your account, but may take 24 hours to apply."
