Google Nest Notification Sounds on iPhone.

Hi, I wanted to know if there was a way to change the notification sounds from the Google Home app. I just installed the Google doorbell and I’m not able to hear notification sounds on my iPhone because the iPhone has a very low default notification sound that can’t be changed which makes the doorbell useless. I’ve been on Google forums and noticed that many people are saying the same thing. Thank you.

We've never had an option to change the notification sound on our iPhones for our Google Nest doorbells, and iOS 17 changed the default sound to one that is almost inaudible.

I wish Google would make a fix.
It would be nice to go into

settings - notifications - Google Home and have an alert option there like other apps do.

I recently moved from an older iPhone SE (gen 1) (limited to iOS 15) to a new iPhone SE (gen 3) (iOS 17), and the Google Home notification sounds (which are not user selectable) for the new phone changed from a noticeable sound to a short barely noticeable sound even with notifications set to their loudest volume. Apple Apps and some others with sound notifications allow for a user selectable sound/tone. Google needs to do this too for Google Home -- an important security feature for many users, as it is clear that the default sounds that Google Home is relying on are not satisfactory on many phones and the sound varies as determined by the phone manufacturer default. There are a range of inquiries over the years about this lack of user control and it is now time for this to be fixed.

Hey Google, You Can Do This.

I also submitted similar feedback via the Google Home App.

I bought a new Google Doorbell and now I regret buying this thing. The notifications on my iPhone are inaudible rendering the whole device useless. I have to put the phone in front of me screen facing me in order to catch the doorbell ring. Google unfortunately needs to do a lot more in order to produce user friendly gadgets. A doorbell that we do not hear? Good job fellas!

Well said. I posted about this as well. It renders the doorbell useless. You would think a company as big as Google would rectify this in a minute. I don’t see them correcting this at all.

How amazing to read, one Community specialist (irony occurs), after another, reply back to the problem, with the same completely indifferent answer.
What are you specialists in?

This problem, related to the Google Doorbell, has been going on for a long time now, and still it's a problem. I think most people, now know, that in IOS 17, the standard notification sound has been changed to an almost inaudible sound.

The problem is that there are thousands of customers who have bought a product which is largely worthless. And Google chooses to completely ignore it.
Do we as customers have to return these Doorbells? as they do not meet the criteria to be a Doorbell.

So instead of portraying yourselves as specialists here in this forum, use your time to get the problem presented to the sleeping people who are sitting with the Software development, related to Doorbells, and Google Home.

Yes like others the new IOS update automatically changed my Nest camera tone to a tone that is so quite I can’t hear it when the phone is in my pocket. Cameras are great but do no good if you can not hear the alert tone! Please help !!!

Did it ever occur to anyone that Apple did this on purpose? Why would Apple make it easy for users to buy their large competitor's device. If Google won't fix their problem with iPhones, why should Apple care? Refund the Google doorbell and get a Ring doorbell. I only tried the Google doorbell because it came free with our security system, we're just going to put our old Ring doorbell back on, I can always hear the alert no matter what version of iOS I have. I don't really understand your point! I don't think that Apple has thought along those lines when they changed the default tone to what it is now.
Sure, Google sells a certain number of doorbells, but not in a number that would even bother Apple to do anything to prevent such sales.
So if you are satisfied with your Ring doorbell, you should of course keep it.

Google just needs a kick in the ass to change their way of ringing the bell. Other things work through Google Home, so the doorbell can do that too.

But someone has to push Google to change that.
And we, as users, can only do that through the channels that exist (including this Forum).

This is not just inconvenient but a safety hazard, as the camera notifications would not wake me at night or I wouldn’t hear them if I’m not holding my phone and looking at it! Totally incomprehensible…
