What is your question? 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells get installed in the Google Nest app (and can be accessed on the home.nest.com website), while 2nd gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells (released starting in Sept. 2021) get installed in the Google Home app (and can be accessed for live video only on the home.google.com website along with 1st gen cameras and doorbells).

The Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E get installed in the Google Nest app but then can be seen in the Google Home app, while the Nest Thermostat gets installed and can be seen only in the Google Home app. Nest Protects get installed and can be seen only in the Google Nest app.

Nest Hubs, Nest Hub Maxes, Nest Minis, and Nest speakers get installed in the Google Home app, but the camera built into the Nest Hub Max gets installed in the Google Nest app.

And if you're logging into the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google Account and accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure", your 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells can be viewed but not administered in the Google Home app.

Why 2 different apps? It is quite frustrating to have products from Google in 2 different apps… the whole point of buying all the same parent products is for ease of use. Using 2 different apps to manage similar products is quite the opposite of ease of use… and definitely does not provide a good user experience.

That's a good question. I'm just another Google Nest customer trying to cope with Google Nest's 2-app solution. We've been using the 2 apps since migrating our Nest Account to a Google Account in 2020 (to get a Nest Aware Plus subscription), but it got worse when we purchased a 2nd gen battery camera in Sept. 2021 and had to start using the 2 apps for daily access to our cameras and doorbells. You'd have to ask Google Nest for an answer.

Google Nest is slowly making it possible for customers to test out transferring our 1st gen cameras to the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app:

We're not participating in the test because it's still not possible to transfer our 1st gen doorbells, and the Google Home app still lacks numerous functions present in the Google Nest app:
