Multiple Voice Matches on one device

I'm not totally sure if this is the right place to ask this question..

I just purchased a JBL Authentics 200 - and I'm trying to set up google assistant with voice match on the speaker for me and my wife. This is a brand new device - other than trying to set up google voice match, we've done nothing else with it (e.g., no Alexa).

Whichever of our voice match profiles I set up first, we can't add the other. If I set up hers first, I can't add mine - I then do a factory reset on the speaker and add my voice match, then I can't add hers.

On the second persons phone, when trying to add through the "Home App" I click on the speaker -> settings -> recognition and sharing (both my and my wife are listed) -> voice match -> enable. At this point it tells me that I must add a compatible device

If I do it through the google assistant app, it shows the speaker in the list but says "Device not supported". It will only do this for the *second* person that tries to add voice match.

Removing the voice match from the device in google home/assistant app's doesn't allow the other person to add their voice match, but factory resetting the device does. However, whoever is first, the other person can't add.

Is there something I'm missing here? I've looked around and the problems people have with voice match mostly seem to be about user permissions or language settings - I've checked those things and they seem correct.

How can I get this working properly?

Hi znewsham,

We have limited support for third-party Google Assistant-enabled devices. But for this, make sure that both your accounts are linked to the same home structure where your JBL Authentics 200 is set up and assigned to a room. To confirm, open the Google Home app > Settings tab > Under the home name are the profile icons of home members. If your wife's account is there, try to remove it and re-invite her. When accepting the invitation, she must choose to turn on Personal results and then retrain her voice.

If the issue persists, try to factory reset and set up the speaker in a new home structure.

Thanks for the suggestion - I tried all of the above multiple times (and various combinations of resets, etc) - in the end I went and bought a nest audio and it pretty much worked right away (couple wrinkles, but working now).

It's a bad look for Google to put their logo on a device with limited support, with no documentation anywhere that this might be the case - it makes it look like the Google enabled speakers are far less reliable/functional than their Amazon counterparts, even though the comparison isn't apples-apples.
