Forced to log in using Youtube app on a DIFFERENT device

I was forced to select "click yes on your YouTube app on your ipad" when trying to log in. I was catching a bus, needing to show ticket code and did not bring my ipad. I used to do text verifications, but it was disabled because of it is "less secured".

This issue causes me to reschedule everything on the day and a lot of extra communications.

Why do you think it is a good idea to force user to have different device at first time logging in? This mess could be completely avoided if app on different device were just skipped, or text verification were allowed.
