Home and Nest App not adding thermostat

I recently bought a house with Nest heating and now trying manage them with with home or the Nest App

With the Nest app I get a blank screen where you enter the last 4 digits and with Nest app, it won't focus on the QR code so I continue to manually select the thermostat at us just hangs

Using a Pixel 6, any suggestions appreciated

Good to confirm that as the steps are different depending on the model.

You need to use the Nest app for setup, so don't try using the Google Home app.
