Google Home app - mode not working

My issue is NOT that my Google Home app doesn’t recognize when I am home or away, it senses my presence perfectly. My problem is that the Google Home MODE (Home/Away) doesn’t change if I come or go.

When my husband and I leave home together, GH mode stays Home, even though we both check Settings > Presence Sensing and see that individually we are Away.

Any thoughts on this? Any help making the app work will be greatly appreciated.

To better understand your situation, please answer the following questions:

Which Google Nest device do you use for home/away ?
Do you use the Nest App or the Google Home App?
Do you and your husband use the same account, or have you invited a family member to your account?

Ok, I figured out why my mode status wasn't working - hopefully this will help someone else too. In Presence Sensing settings, you can select which speakers can contribute to sensing when you are home. My speakers were all selected. Deselecting those made mode work flawlessly. Supposedly ambient noise won't trigger Home mode, but I suspect my parakeets were triggering it.
