Google Home Notifications not Coming on New Phone

I've been using google home for two different homes for 2-3 years now and been getting camera and thermostat notifications with no problem until my current phone was wrecked and replaced.
Since moving to the new phone all of those notifications continue to go to the old phone whose display is not working well enough for me to interact with the phone.

SMS messages sent to the new phone work fine but not those notices originating from google home.
Phone is motorola edge 2024 running latest android V14
I have checked and double checked GH notification setting and see that they are enabled.

The phone and app are setup to use the same google account as the old phone.

Any recommendations?

Support restored notifications by enabling public preview.
