Random music adding to my YouTube music playlist

I hope someone can help because I'm not getting any from Google Advisors.

So when I try to play a certain playlist on my home speaker devices (not through my mobile app), it starts brilliantly, opens the playlist I want to listen to, but then a song or two in, I start to realise that a song has started to play which is not in the playlist I have requested. So then I have to either stop the automation or start casting directly from my mobile phone via opening the YouTube Music app directly and casting to a specific home device.

I wonder if anyone would know the reason why I'm finding random songs being added to my playlist when I haven't added them?

Which model of speaker and how many speakers do you have?
Where are you located?
Are you using a personal account or a business account?
What was the exact voice command you used to play the desired audio content?
You mentioned using YouTube Music. Do you have a YouTube Music Premium subscription, or are you using the free version?
Are all your speakers under the same "home" in the Google Home app?

Hi Debora, thanks for a reply.

I have already been in contact with reps from Google help, but could not help so fingers crossed for you.

The Google speakers are which I use;

Google nest audio speakers X2

Google nest hub

Google home speaker

And the Google pixel tablet including dock.

I am located in the United Kingdom.

I am using a personal account.

The exact phrase I use is "hey Google, play my likes".

I only have 1 playlist which is the one when i "thumbs up" a song and it automatically adds to "my likes".

I am a YouTube music family premium plan subscriber.

Everyone is all under one home account

First, let's confirm if you’re using Google Assistant or Gemini for Home. To do this, please follow these steps:

Open the Google Home app.
At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
Tap Home settings.
Check if you see “Google Assistant” or “Gemini for Home voice assistant.”
Tap Assistant Voice & Sounds or Voice selection. Check if you see voices named as colors or plants.
For example, if you see “Red,” you're on Google Assistant. If you see “Pothos,” you're on Gemini for Home voice assistant.

Verify if your voice commands are structured correctly

Confirm that the voice command you are using is structured in the appropriate way, based on the approved voice commands below:

Say this: "Okay Google" or "Hey Google," then:

Request a song: "Play <song name>," "Play <song name> by <artist name>," or “Play <song name> on <music service>”
Request an artist: "Play <artist name>" or "Play <artist name> on <music service>”

Check if Restricted Mode settings are turned on

Open the Google Home app.
Tap Home, then All devices, then touch and hold the device's tile.
Tap Settings.
Tap Notifications & digital wellbeing, then YouTube settings.
Under "Use Restricted Mode," turn off Restrict for me and Restrict when someone isn't recognized.
Under "Filter content for YouTube TV," turn off Filter for me.

All your points raised have been checked and I can confirm that non of your suggestions have worked. These are the same suggestions that I have had given to me when I have attempted to contact Google help and spoke to an advisor via chat.

Also have tried switching to Gemini to see if any difference but there is none.

Thanks for the information. Let’s check if the music setup you are using is correct. Please follow these steps:

Open the Google Home app.
At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
Make sure the Google Account listed is the one linked to the device. To switch accounts, select the alternate email address if available.
Tap Assistant settings (not Home settings) and then Music.
- Note: The path to Music settings has changed in recent app updates. It is often under Settings > Services > Music or directly under Assistant settings.
To choose your default service, tap the radio button to the right of the service.

Another recommendation is to try renaming your playlist and then try playing it again.

Please try these steps and let me know how it goes!

Thank you for this info but I still have the same ongoing issue.

Also, I am unable to rename the playlist I am trying to play because the playlist I am trying to play is the playlist made by you at Google when I 'like' (thumbs up) a song which I hear, and Google don't allow to change that playlist name as it cannot be changed.

Such a wasteful form to send for me to fill in, nothing new on the form to fill in. And only information which Google has seen from this thread. Plus such a waste of my time, which is how I feel about this whole issue, as nothing is being fixed. Same issue for the past 6 months or more and Google is just asking the same questions over and over. I feel like this will be a scenario which I have seen so many times from other problems which does NOT get fixed, and the user just gets bored and gives up trying to fix the issue!

Similar problem, I ask into play a playlist (one created by Google YouTube Music, so not one I made). My speaker repeats exactly the correct playlist that I asked for, but then proceeds to play a random song from a completely different genre.

Google Home has pretty much become useless to play music with

For me it's the hands free part which is annoying, the assistant is there for you to be able to perform things without having to use your hands, I have to actually open my youtube music app open the only playlist I have and have to cast to a speaker, which makes using Google assistant useless.
