Unable to add Nest Yale lock to Nest app. White button non responsive

Unable to add Yale lock to Nest app. When I press the white button at the back of the yale lock it will not turn blue. All I hear is 3 beeps and nothing happens. How do I fix this problem so that when I push the white button it turns blue so that I can connect to the Nest app?
