topic app wont work in Apps / Account

app wont work

so i just downloaded the google home app to get my google home set up but when i try to select an email account to set it up with it just turns blue with a checkmark and i even try to click the checkmark but nothing happens. what do i do? btw this is on chromebook. not ios

Are you using an account that ends in @Gmail.com? It has to be a Google account.
