Hi there!

While Alexa excels at smart home control, announcing recognized faces at the door with Nest currently works through the Google Home app. Here's why you might not be seeing names announced through Alexa:

App for Facial Recognition: Nest's "Familiar Faces" feature, which announces recognized visitors, is integrated within the Google Home app, not the Alexa app.

To achieve name announcements, you have two options:

Google Home Announcements: Utilize Familiar Faces with the Google Home app. You can configure it to announce names when it recognizes familiar people at the doorbell.

Alexa Person Detection: If you prefer using Alexa, you can leverage person detection alerts. While it won't announce names, you'll still receive notifications when someone's at the door.

I hope this clarifies the situation and provides you with the options to get the desired announcements!

Best,

Brandon.

Hi,

I have a wired second gen nest doorbell. Everything else in my house I run is alexa products (ie firestick, show 8, and echo dot.) I linked the doorbell to the alexa app, set up facial recognition, named multiple faces, approved google home app and alexa app to announce name of recognized faces when doorbell is pressed but all I get is "someone is at door." It doesn't say specific names. What am I missing l here?
