Nest 2nd Gen Doorbell Chime not working, Can't find "More" to get to "Quiet Time" setting

Nest doorbell works with Google speaker but not the mechanical chime. Have Home app Version 3.20.1.8 on phone. Instructions say

"Open the Google Home app.

Tap and hold your device's tile.

Tap Settings Doorbell Check that Ring indoor chime is set to On.

Tap More Quiet Time, then tap Cancel if it's active."

I select "Settings Doorbell" Doorbell. Theme is "Ding Dong" Ring indoor chime is on, and "No" is selected for "Have an electronic chime"

I can't find a "More" seletion to get to "Quiet Time"

Am I missing something?

Thanks for getting back to me.

I'm not a techie/electrician. Here's what I know: The Nest doorbell is 2nd generation wired, MFG 09/2023, installed on 3 July along with knew chime and transformer (ETV Intertek 5014368). The LED on the doorbell is green. Camera/audio is being recorded fine, and I get a notice on my Google speaker when the doorbell is used. That notice only occurs once if the doorbell is pressed several times, but I understand that that's normal.

The electrician (Hawkins Service Co.)says the wiring is good. He plans to be here tomorrow (Aug 7th) between 9 and 11 and may replace the chime and/or the transformer.

According to the information you provided, it seems that the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen.) is working fine and is not causing this situation. Perhaps replacing the transformer or chime might solve this. Here are some recommendations:

Ensure the transformer is rated at 16–24 volts AC and 10–40 volts VA.
You'll have to check the chime compatibility with Nest Doorbells.

Update: Both the Chime and my Google speaker are working now. Electrician checked the voltage (20V), and the chime by directly connecting the wires outside (chime chimed). The chime began to work with the Nest doorbell when the chime connector (puck) was removed. Can you tell me why the chime works without the chime connector but not when it's installed? Thanks.

To answer your question, the chime connector allows the chime’s wires to deliver constant power to the Nest Doorbell (ensuring reliable video streaming and chimes) and protects your chime from damage. In addition, without the chime connector, you might experience chime buzzing or unexpected chimes.

While there are specific cases where the doorbell might function without it, we strongly recommend using the chime connector to avoid damage to the equipment.

Apparently others have had the same issue of the chime working without the puck but not with the puck. In one case Google sent out a replacement puck with a four wire connection. My puck has two wires. (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/What-does-the-nest-doorbell-2md-gen-puck-do/m-p/262051). Should I be using this four-wire puck, or just continue without a puck.? Thanks.

I just sent the form with the following information:

"Had the Google Nest 2nd Gen doorbell installed. Transformer (measuring 20V) and Chime work fine. Doorbell is recording OK and "rings" on our Google speaker. Problem is the chime only works without the chime connector (puck) installed. With the puck installed the chime doesn't work. Can I simply use the setup without the puck, or is the puck essential for some reason. I understand that someone else with this problem received a new puck with four wires instead of two and the 4-wire puck worked OK. Thanks, Russ #####, #, (#3#) ##4-2###"

Anyway to continue this conversation on this thread? I’m having the exact same problem and would love to have my doorbell working properly… what do we do about the chime puck situation? Do we need it? Why is it defective straight out of the box? How do I get a new o e without being charged since it was already defective when I purchase it?
