After all, use of the beta "Public Preview" version is still optional. And if they forced us all to "transfer", we'd all lose many current Nest app functionality. (And you can--I understand--transfer your 1st gen cameras BACK to the Google Nest app.)

The beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app has been available in beta mode since Nov. 8, 2022:
https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Request-an-invite-to-try-the-new-Google-Home-app-in-Public-Preview/ba-p/279343

The "Public Preview" version of the home.google.com website has been available in beta mode since Oct. 2022.

Yes, it's confusing.
iOS Google Nest vs Home apps for cameras

I have 6 legacy Nest cameras, most IQ outdoor and a Nest Aware+ account. I have been trying to switch over to the Home app, as I was prompted. I was able to transfer 3 of my cameras, but not the other 3. I spent 45 minutes on Google chat to no avail. I thought maybe I needed to migrate my Nest account to my Google account per these instructions, https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9297676, but on my iOS Nest app it does not give me that option.

Judging by others comments as well it appears the transition from Nest to Home has not been handle very well? Is there any hope for improvement? Will probably just transfer my devices back to Nest. But on my PC I am no longer able to login to Nest web. Google could learn a thing or two from Apple as to ease of use.

(The option to migrate disappears once you have migrated.)

Google Nest has not provided the ability to "transfer" 1st gen Google Nest IQ cameras from the Google Nest app to the Google Home app; only those listed in this post can be "transferred":

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Public-Preview-updates-Expanded-support-for-Nest-Doorbell-1st-gen-and/ba-p/632891

I don't know why you are no longer able to log into the home.nest.com website on your PC; you should be able to, using the same Google Account you are using to log into the Google Nest app and the Google Home app, and the home.google.com website.

We are not using the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app, and have not "transferred" any of our 1st gen cameras or doorbells because there are so many Nest app features still missing in the Google Home app (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cnest-app-only-features).

Thanks. All very confusing - the chart here https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9681538 says related to Nest Cam IQ "(camera must be migrated to the Home app—learn more about device migration)", the last link being the one you referenced. I meet all the requirements there, so why am I told I must migrate the camera to Home and then will not let me do it? This app is still in Beta after like a year?

Well, I transferred my cameras back to Nest, and I was able to access home.nest, com by using the Edge browser, which gives me a passkey option to use face ID. Not sure why it quit working on Chrome. Until Google gets their act together in maybe 5 years this will have to do. Thanks for your help,
