Turning off Talk & Listen Chime on Nest indoor Cam (2nd gen)

I am a new nest cam user (previously had many, many, many ring cameras). We are experimenting with an indoor camera to monitor children and pets, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to turn off the annoying sound when trying to talk to the kids using the app.

I read on other pages that there was a setting to turn this off from in the nest app, but it appears that was only from using the app with 1st gen cameras? Does that mean I am out of luck? If so that makes the camera unusable for our primary goal. It would also appear to make these cameras, their settings, and their inteIntegrations a giant step backwards from the first Gen which I may have to go search and find, or go back to ring/some other brand if anyone has suggestions.

I've always been a big fan of Google and have had the pixel phone, watch, etc. I'm struggling mightily with these cameras though. Thanks in advance for your help!

Unfortunately I've not seen a setting that toggles the chime on/off. Unless it's an newly added option that i have not come across.

Google Nest lists the "Talk and listen tone setting" as one of many "Nest app only features" that are NOT available in the Google Home app in this partial list of missing features:

We have a bunch of 1st gen cameras and doorbells that we're not "transferring" from the Google Nest app to the beta "Pubic Preview" version of the Google Home app because of all of the missing features.

So, for all intents and purposes, if I went out and bought a 1st gen cameras instead then I would have the option to use the nest app rather than just the home app from the looks of it. Am I reading that correctly?

Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

What type of sound is the camera making?
When did the issue start?
Where did you purchase the device?
Is the audio issue persistent or intermittent?
Has the camera suffered any drops or impacts?
Have you tried to talk from another cell phone?
Has the camera been exposed to outdoor weather?
