Hi! If you already have a chime, yours should be ok with the Nest Google doorbell. You will need to install a 'puck' provided in your doorbell kit, in the doorbell chime, by following the included instructions.

Be aware, that though the doorbell will need to be wired to your existing doorbell wire to provide electrical power, it will need to connect to your wifi for Internet connection.

Excuse me Sarah, but do you already have a chime in your house? If not, well, your electrician is correct.

@Nestuser32

Google Nest does NOT sell indoor doorbell chimes. They assume you already have a standard indoor doorbell chime and transformer--with doorbell wires running to your door--and they do NOT provide any chime recommendations.

If you do NOT have a doorbell transformer and wires running to your door, but you have an electrical outlet near your door, you could use the OhmKat Video Power Supply (https://www.ohmkat.com/products/ohmkat-video-doorbell-power-supply-compatible-with-nest-hello-no-existing-wiring-required-transformer-adapter-power-kit-supply-all-in-one). One of our 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbells uses this adapter, which also works with the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell.

You could also get the Wi-Fi chime that OhmKat sells (see their website), or you could enable the "Visitor announcements" option (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) on your doorbell to get doorbell announcements on a Nest Hub or Nest Mini.

Google Nest sells a plug-in doorbell adapter (https://store.google.com/product/ninety7_indoor_power_adapter_nest_hello), but it does NOT work with the 2nd gen Google Nest doorbell.
