I have a 5 year old wired Nest Hello doorbell. The chiming has become very intermittent. Is there an internal battery that supports the chiming. I’ve seen several contrasting blogs saying there is and some saying there isn’t

Hi Nick,

Yes, your wired Nest Hello doorbell does have a small internal battery, which helps power the chime and maintain function during brief power interruptions. Over time, this battery can degrade, leading to issues like intermittent chiming. If your doorbell is several years old, the battery may no longer hold a charge properly, causing these problems. Some users have replaced the battery themselves, but it requires disassembling the device, which can be tricky.

If you’re experiencing consistent issues, you might consider a replacement or checking if your transformer is providing enough power.

Regards

Hi Nick123T,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand that the Nest doorbell chiming, has become very intermittent. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

Could you please provide more details about the inconvenience that you're experiencing?

What type of led light do you see on the doorbell?

When did the inconvenience start?

Do you see the live feed of your Nest doorbell through the app?

Regarding your questions, The wired Nest Hello doorbell does not have an internal battery that supports the chime. It relies entirely on the power from your existing doorbell wiring for operation, including the chime.

Please take a look at this article: Batteries for Nest products - Google Nest Help.

@jhonmuller thank you for your help.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Rusell
