Thank you. After pulling in the boundaries for that zone by 10 to 15% or so, the false notifications stopped. However, leaving it that way defeats the purpose for setting up a zone to detect presence on my property if the zone needs to stop a number of feet inside the area of concern. The fact that it started in early to mid-March of this year tells me that the cause was some other factor, whether a patch or firmware update during that timeframe, especially since the issue didn’t exist prior to that point.

Spatial Filtering Logic Failure. My front yard camera is triggering 'In Zone' alerts for vehicles 5ft outside of all boundaries. 'Outside of Zone' notifications are confirmed OFF. Bounding-box padding is overriding the defined Activity Zone coordinates. I am requesting a manual review of my system logs for Front Yard Camera to investigate coordinate drift.

Hi @JohnD2,

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues with your Google Nest Camera, specifically that you're receiving vehicle notifications from 5 ft outside your Activity Zone, even though "Outside of zone" notifications are turned off. I understand you're looking for a manual review of your system logs, and I’m happy to help you get this sorted.

To help you further, could you please confirm the following information?

Do you have more than one Activity Zone set up? You can find more info on how to check this here: Set up and use Activity Zones.

If you only have one zone, please try deleting it and creating a new one. To do this:

Open the Google Home app.

Tap Home and select your camera.

Tap Settings > Events > Seen events.

Select Add a zone (+), and highlight the specific area where you want to receive notifications.

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

I have two zones set up, which are overlapping in a small area. I have deleted both zones and recreated them. Unfortunately it didn’t fix the issue. Unless this is an issue with how the system handles bounding boxes around vehicles and this affects whether or not the app sees them as being in a zone, I am at a loss so I very much appreciate your help.

Hi @JohnD2,

Thank you for your reply and for providing that information. Since you have two Activity Zones, the app is recognizing both areas simultaneously. Please delete one zone and use only one. After selecting the specific area where you want to receive notifications, please monitor your camera to see if that solves the issue. If the problem persists, feel free to reply to this post.

I look forward to your update.

Best regards,

Unfortunately this did not fix the problem. As mentioned earlier, is there a known or suspected issue with how the system handles bounding boxes around vehicles that could result in the app seeing them as being in a zone that they aren’t actually in?

Hi @JohnD2,

Thank you for letting me know about the ongoing issue. Due to the activity zone still capturing nearby vehicles, I recommend adjusting your camera’s perspective. Please try shrinking the detection zone by pulling the edges back approximately 10–15%.

If the false notifications stop, it confirms the bounding box was overlapping due to the camera's angle. However, if the issue persists, please try restarting both your cameras and the Google Home app.

I'll be waiting for your reply.
