Connecting google doorbell (battery) to smart speaker

After some help. Just purchased the new battery google doorbell and having trouble connecting it to the google smart speakers.

Anyone have any advice for me please

Hi @andyf1882

You are going to want to use the Google Home app to control what notifications are sent from the new Nest Doorbell battery. You can set up the different groups for when the doorbell is pressed or for other notifications.

MrVacca, Are you saying that you use the Google Home app on your phone to set up the alerts on the Google Hub? I'm confused because andyf1882 is asking about the hub which does not run the Google Home app. Am I missing something? Please explain further.

Hi @mdr2 I assumed when the OP said "Google Smart Speakers", they were referring to the Nest speaker or mini, not the Hub.

Hmmmm, you might be right. I guess the user wants to hear a 'chime' sound on the speaker. Initially I was thinking why would you want to connect a device with a camera to a speaker? But I guess it makes sense. Sorry for the confusion.

No need to apologize 🙂 I completely understand the confusion. I have a speaker in my back porch so that when I'm in my back yard, I can hear the chime if I don't have my phone on me.

Yes this is exactly what I want to set up. But it doesn't allow me to do it.

Open the google home app and then in the top left corner you will see the plus button. That is where you can add a speaker group.

Actually I think I just figured it out using another way. Open google home and then open your doorbell. Then open the gear settings. Then click doorbell again. Then you will see this screen. Make sure the toggle is turned on.

Yes I have this toggled but doesn't work. Also won't allow me to create a speaker group.

I'm wondering if my mini are too old and need to be latest generation

I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. You mini should still do the trick. Are you still having an issue creating a Speaker Group?
