Nest doorbell recording history

I just got Nest Aware - again. I have selected to see "people" only, however, it records everything - sounds, motion. Each day, I end up with hundreds of little videos that I have to look through to find the ones with people in them. I've checked off only "people". How can I get it to stop recording stuff that aren't "people"? Now I remember why I cancelled Aware the first time. The accumulation of all those little videos is just too much. At least when I cancelled Aware, those little unwanted shots were kept to a very few. If I can't resolve this, I'm going to have to cancel again.

Hi Xviper, You didn't specify but I'm guessing you are talking about the GOOGLE HOME app?

If you are then go to into the app and view the live camera. Hit the GEAR and then select EVENTS. On that screen you can set what gets recorded and what doesn't.

Thanks. It just says "Nest Home". I've always had the setting for what I want to have recorded. However, I've figured it out. It seems that if I delete all history, it will record EVERYTHING until an actual selected event occurs. Then, all the other recordings disappear and only the selected events remain. If I never delete the history, it behaves the way I want and only selected events get recorded. Weird, but I can live with that.

Hmmmm, so a few questions. Are you on a Samsung or iphone?

On the iPhone I don't think there is anything called "NEST HOME". It should be either NEST (with a home icon) or GOOGLE HOME (also with a house icon).

You should definitely not need to delete the history to get what you want.

Were you able to find the page I mentioned that lets you choose what gets recorded and what doesn't. Here is what my page looks like.

I'm using Iphone. Yes, as you say, it says "Nest" with the home logo (little house). I've always been able to choose what to have recorded. I have not deleted the history for a day and it's working as it should. If I delete the history, it will record everything till something shows up in front of the door bell that is one of my chosen selections. Then the rest of the recordings of non-chosen things disappears. I'm good with how it works now. I simply won't delete anything and that's OK with me. It just takes up more storage space on the Google server, but then, I've paid for it so it doesn't make any difference to me.
