Nest battery doorbell wont connect to app or ring in the house

Do I have to have a nest connect to make the Nest doorbell (battery) chime? Also I can’t get it to connect to Google home or nest app.

You do NOT need a Nest Connect to connect a Nest doorbell to your WiFi network. If it's wired and you have existing doorbell wiring, it should be able to ring your existing doorbell chime if correctly wired.

As far as not being able to connect your new device in the Google Home app (the Google Nest Battery Doorbell does NOT work with the Google Nest app), you are not alone. Maybe this thread will help:
