Can the doorbell be installed at a front entrance that doesn’t have a roof protecting it? My front door is very open to the elements but I’m interested in purchasing.

I can only tell you from my own experience. But I've got the Nest Doorbell next to my front door without any protection to the elements. It survived three storms (Dudley, Eunice and Franklin) in a row.

Obviously with water on the lens the image is less clear (so far been dried by the wind).
