Thanks for the extra info, cramer236.

I have personally seen this as well on my own setup where my Chromecast connects to a point that's about twice as far as the nearest point. There can be quite a few reasons why this might happen, but as long as performance hasn't been impacted negatively, it's actually a problem for your overall network health. The mesh network will adjust connections and configurations to maintain the most stable connections. It's sometimes a little hard to trust the network to do its thing, so to speak, but it really is what usually works best.

If you are concerned about the points and camera connection, you can try moving the points around a bit and test for impact. Sometimes direct line distance is not representative of actual distance in regards to network reach due to the types of walls the signal might be passing through or any possible types of interference.

Let me know if that makes any sense or if you have more questions.

Thanks.

Hi, cramer236.

Sorry for the connection issues you're having with your WiFi set up and cameras. I would love to help you get this figured out. I do have a few questions to help us narrow down what we're working with here.

Are you having trouble getting your cameras to connect at all, or just to certain points?

Are any of the points going offline?

Do you have any other devices aside from the cameras having connection issues?

When you run a mesh test, what is the connection strength for your points?

With a bit more info we can definitely sort this out. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks.

Everything connects fine and mesh connection are great.

No real issues with connection but it is just that the different cameras do not necessarily connect to the nearest connection point.

So really just need to know how do we specify the point to use or reconnect the camera to wifi so the connection is redone?

Thanks.

Hey, cramer236.

Honestly, there's no way to direct the connections. One thing you could try is to unplug the point the camera is connecting to long enough for it to connect to the desired, closer point. Once it's connected, plug the other point back and see if the connection flips or holds. It's worth giving a try.

Thanks.
