I always use the Honywell ones, they work very well.

Yes.

What brand door chimes work best with the nest doorbell. We have a cheap one and 99% of the time it doesn't sound a ding when the doorbell is pressed.

I would suggest a Google/Nest chime connector. You can purchase one here on ebay.
