Connect the new battery doorbell to an existing wired chime

I recently installed the new battery (wireless) Nest Doorbell. My existing wired door mechanical chime is still in place. How can I connect the wireless Nest Doorbell to my existing chime? I want the door chime to ring as usual in addition to the notification sent to the Home App on my android phone.

You just have to connect it to the wires for the current mechanical doorbell (and that will eliminate the mechanical doorbell button, of course). If you want it to ring the chime, there is a software setting in the app to turn that feature on. By default it will not ring the chime.

This didn't work for me on two installs, mine and another family members house. On both setups, I used the black cables on the back of the nest and connected to the two existing wires. I saw one video where it said the wiring didn't matter (black/white in either port). But in both situations, the nest notifications and camera work great, but I wanted the existing chimes to work.

I have seen some reports of folks having issues with the existing chime not working due to insufficiently sized transformer, especially in two chime installations. Mine worked fine, so it definitely can be made to work, To be clear, this question was about the Battery doorbell (but wired). I do think the Nest Hello should work as well, however. There is no polarity for a doorbell a/c circuit, so either wire can be wired to either connector on the doorbell.

Yes, Google Nest Battery Doorbell, but wired. I understand I may need a new doorbell Transformer, that will 1) Supply Power to constantly charge and 2) Provide Power to work with the current Chime. Any I see some people mentioning a new door bell, but it sounds like I just need a new transformer?

I just completed the wired installation of the Nest Doorbell-Battery connecting with my existing mechanical chime. It works. Both the chime and announcement works together.

On Live View of the Doorbell on my phone I hear a low hissing sound. It is not wind noise as there is no wind in the area. May be the microphone on the Doorbell is very sensitive, but there is no setting I can adjust. Any ideas anyone?

Did you have to change your transformer? [Just curious...] If so, did what VA did you end up using?

Also, is your Nest-Battery charging off the power?

I find the transformer used by the chime but there is not marking on it regarding VA. I know Nest Doorbell requires 8-24va. But I have no means to test/verify the output of the transformer. It is my leap of faith to connect it to the Doorbell. It turns out, it is ok.

Yes, the Battery Doorbell is now charging from the wired power. So I don't need to remove the unit for charging every 2 weeks or so.
