Poor Battery life Nest Doorbell (battery)

I live on a pretty busy street with constant traffic during the day and I made sure my zone is set up to only have the porch for notifications. I'm having to charge the nest Doorbell battery at least once a week. Is this because of my street or is it because the doorbell is faulty?

The settings for the doorbell are all default and the distance from the router is less than 15 feet.

I'm having similar issues. I just spent an hour speaking to a support person who didn't seem to have any idea of the settings, didn't understand anything about activity zones and basically just wanted to tell me that if I wasn't happy with the battery life then I just needed to wire it in. Very unimpressed

So I think I figured it out. I had a day off and just stood outside staring at the doorbell and sure enough every single time a car went by the light ring around the button was lighting up and the doorbell was waking. Since I didn't want traffic to be recorded anyway. I set wake-up sensitivity to low.

What this setting should clearly say is the distance that it wakes up. At low it still consistently wakes up when someone is on my front porch which is what I wanted. The doorbell is now saying I have 3 weeks of battery life and this is with a 60% charge, plus it's still learning so that could be even longer.

This setting I think needs to be adjusted to clearly say the distance for wake up as it would solve a lot of issues for people.

No problem. Once you set it to low you'll see a ? Mark for the estimated battery life for a little bit once it realizes it isn't waking up for every thing that goes by. After a few days the battery life estimate will go up and up and up. Initially it was saying 5 days, then 1 week, now 3 weeks. I'm sure at a full charge I can get a month or more out of this now.

I am very relieved to hear that you were able to figure it out! Yeah that would definitely wear down the battery if it is constantly waking to movement of vehicles. When it comes to saving battery life, adjusting the alerts and zones is a great way to do just that! Please let me know if you need anything else.

@JamesB's solution of setting the trigger sensitivity to low seems to have made a significant difference. I seem to be losing 1 to 2% per day rather than the 10%+ I was losing per day with the default settings. Makes me really question what they were basing their estimates for high traffic areas on.

Mine's definitely good now. I think they need to clearly explain the wake up sensitivity with distance and how it impacts battery life. I'm much happier with it now and it's working as intended.
