Nest Doorbell Hot

I have a nest doorbell that is hardwired to regular electricity. I don’t recall the device getting hot before but I notice it’s hot to touch now. Is this normal, should the device get hot to touch. It works great, no issues, just the temperature. Many thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Nest Doorbell (wired) produce heat while they’re on. It’s normal for your camera or doorbell to get warm to the touch, but it’s designed to quickly disperse heat. You can check this article when your Nest camera or doorbell gets hot for more info.

Hope your day went well. Don’t know if “it’s on” per say. Do you mean as long as it’s actively connected to electricity or when it’s actively in use and recording. I have felt it hot just stepping outside and placing my hand on it - not necessarily in use per say.

Hi Rusty,

I appreciate the reply. Is your Nest Doorbell getting direct sunlight? If it reaches over 104°F (40°C), it will shut down. I would recommend turning the device off and reaching out to our Support team if it gets past that to check it further.
