Hello, I'm an end user like you. Just as a simple test try changing the setting in the app to say YES to the electronic chime question. If a slider appears set it to about 1-2 seconds.

If that doesn't work the I suggest you reach out to Google and speak with a Nest Camera tech person. Here is the link to get that process started:

Hi experts,

I have a Nest doorbell (battery) which I then got an electrician to wire it to my existing Deta Mechanical door bell via a transformer. The camera feed was fine and even the chime was working but the chime tone was very weak. I checked all the settings in the app - indoor chime bell selected + electronic chime not ticked.

The transformer started making a buzzing noise after 2-3 hours so I was wondering if you could look at the wiring picture and let me know if there's anything incorrect or whether the bell itself is not compatible for Nest doorbell.

Is there any recommended chime bell brand that is more suitable to use with Nest doorbell (battery)?

Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance

@sajmcoy

I have no familiarity with your British General CUB1 transformer and doorbell or with electrical specs for the U.K. It seems there are some challenges to get it to work with the Ring doorbell: https://www.smarthomepoint.com/deta-doorbell-to-ring/. And there is this video for wiring it for a Nest Hello with the Nest Hello's Chime Connector, which has a couple of references to the chime buzzing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5BV49XSs0E.

I also found this link for wiring the Deta chime to a Nest Hello (you can ignore the Chime Connector)): http://www.paul-lee.co.uk/how-to/nest-hello-doorbell-wiring-with-deta-c3500-c3501-chime-uk/

Maybe Nest doorbells just won't work with Deta chimes. You could try turning on the electronic chime under "Chime Duration" and experimenting with the actual chime duration to see if that works.

I tried that too. The electronic chime option made the chime ring in sort of like slow motion and weak. Thanks for the link.

Hi there.. thanks for the links. I will share this with the electrician so he could figure it out.

Unfortunately there are no videos specific to Nest doorbell (battery) connected to chime or ones which clearly shows the wiring which is rather strange.

I will keep looking. Thanks

had a look at the video by Paul-Lee where he connects the nest doorbell via chime connector. He mentions removing the existing transformer from Deta and then wiring the power supply from the new transformer straight to the bell.

Hi MplsCustomer, The original post says " Nest doorbell (battery)". It is my understanding that only the original Nest HELLO requires the user of a chime connector. So I don't think that applies to this installation.
