Nest Floodlight/Camera combo Issue

I am getting messages from this device that the batteries are low. I went to the setting cog and batteries, and the battery showed 2% remaining. I don't have batteries in this unit. About an hour later, I rechecked settings/ batteries, and I saw that it says plugged in now. What would cause this to be flakey?

Numerous other customers have posted in this forum about issues with the battery in their floodlight camera showing as needing charging. If your floodlight camera is wired correctly and its circuit is never turned off (if the circuit is switched, it should always be on), then the camera should be connected to continuous power and the battery should always show as "Plugged in", and the battery should never run down.

I don't know whether customers have wiring issues with the camera or whether some floodlight cameras are defective.

We have had a similar camera, the Google Nest Camera (Battery), plugged in with the optional power cable, and it is always "Live", showing as "plugged in", and--if we turn off the circuit so we can see the battery level--having a battery level between 77% and 100%.

So your saying there is a battery in the floodlight/camera combo been if it’s wired?

Yes, there's a battery. Google Nest doesn't seem to explain its purpose, though.

Hi sjm1027,

That's a good question. The use of the battery is to set up your camera as a wireless one and you would need to fully charge it when it's drained for 4 to 5 hours. To learn more about it, have a look at this guide.

I think you may have misunderstood the question. Why does the HARD-WIRED FLOODLIGHT CAMERA have a battery? You answered by saying it is "to set up your camera as a WIRELESS one" and then pointed to an article on a different camera, the Google Nest Camera (Battery). It would make no sense to set up the floodlight camera as a wireless camera; there'd be no power for the floodlights.

Got it, thanks for sharing your thoughts about this. The Nest Camera with Floodlight is basically a Nest Cam battery with a floodlight and the use of the battery is for users who prefer to install it as a battery operated camera.
