Installed first outdoor camera about 2 months ago and a 2nd outdoor camera about 1 month ago. They are both plugged in 24/7 so I didn’t think low battery could even be possible but the first camera stopped recording due to no battery a couple weeks ago and now the 2nd camera no longer works due to no battery. How can this be when they are plugged in at all times with the charger that was supplied when I purchased them? Temperatures have been above 55/60 up until the last couple weeks it’s gotten down to mid 40’s at night a couple times. So temperature shouldn’t be a factor (but do we live in the north, it gets down to zero in winter so I sure hope these cameras will still operate being OUTDOOR cameras).

When you check Settings | Battery for your Google Nest Camera (Battery) in the Google Home app, it should show as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol.

We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) always plugged in with the optional power cable for a year now, and the battery always remains charged and the camera is always "Live", even in Minnesota winters with temperatures down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.

If the battery camera is NOT plugged in, see the following Google Nest Help topic: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989?hl=en

Hi HP16,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about what's happening on your Nest Cameras.

The batteries in Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery) have the following minimum temperature requirements:

Minimum operating temperature: -4°F (-20°C)

Minimum charging temperature: 32°F (0°C)

At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the battery can still power your device, but it won’t charge. It may also drain more quickly than usual. If the battery drains completely, the camera will shut down.The battery can still be charged at 104°F (40°C), the hottest operating temperature for Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery).To know more about this, just hit this link.

@MplsCustomer I appreciate your response.

Thanks,

Thank you. Your picture tells me that my camera’s charging cord is definitely not working then. Mine says empty battery and does not say plugged in and never has. I did mess with the cord where it attaches to the camera and that fixed my other camera but unfortunately this camera still won’t get power.
