I added the camera to the home app. Tried to add to the nest app and it just tells me to download the home app which I already have. Can't figure out how to add the camera to the nest app.

Unfortunately, Google Nest decided that its newer cameras and doorbells released starting in the autumn of 2021 would work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website. It's part of Google Nest's 2-app approach; Google Nest's VP offered this explanation a year ago: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/17122

A few weeks ago, Google Nest announced an upcoming upgrade to the Google Home app that perhaps might bring our Google Nest devices into one app again; who knows?: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Recap-Introducing-the-new-Google-Home-app-and-Nest-devices/ba-p/251176

Thanks for reaching out. No worries, we’ll sort this out — what’s the model of your Nest camera?

Here are the steps to set up your camera in the Home app.

If you haven’t already done so, download the Home app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Open the Home app . If prompted, sign in with your Google Account.
On the home screen, tap Add device or service .
Select Set up device .
Tap New device.
Choose the home you want to add your camera to, or select Add another home to create a new one. Then, tap Next.
The app looks for nearby devices. When prompted, select the camera model you have as the device you want to set up.
Use your phone’s camera to scan your camera’s QR code. You can also tap Continue without scanning and enter the setup code.
Tip: If you don’t know where the setup code is, tap Find the code for help.
The app walks you through setup and installation.
