Nest Doorbell (Batttery) Visitor Announcements on Nest Hubs

Hi All,

I recently got a Nest Doorbell and have wired it in according to the instructions. What I am trying to do is to get the visitor announcements to work properly from two Nest Hubs that I already have.

My issue is, if a Nest Hub is playing media (say the radio from BBC Sounds), it won't announce a visitor. Is this intended behaviour, or is there a setting to change this?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you've been experiencing this, and I would love to look into this for you. As long as your visitor announcements are enabled on both devices, they are both under the same home/structure, then they should be announcing. Check your settings to make sure this is enabled in full, and try to restart the devices as well. Please reach out if you need further assistance.

Thanks Brad and Ebedia. I tried restarting and have checked settings. I can only find visitor announcement settings for the doorbell, nothing specific for the hubs.

It’s still sporadically working, I can’t seem to find a pattern on when and why, but it will never send a visitor announcement if media is playing on the hub.

Anyway I appreciate this isn’t one that can easily be debugged so feel free to lock the thread.

Thanks for getting back to us and we appreciate your feedback. To confirm, have you checked if your do not disturb is toggled on? You may also try resetting both devices to the factory default. Try to monitor its behavior if it's only happening on a particular app or media. If you have other questions and concerns, feel free to let me know.
