I have set up my door bell, the Google nest shows the door bell indoors but when you press the door bell it does not ring inside the house, I was under the assumption that the Google nest would chime when the door bell was pressed, is this not the case?? How do you know if some one is at the front door? You can't have your phone in your hands always?

If you have wired your new Google Nest Doorbell Battery to your existing doorbell wires and your existing doorbell's transformer meets Google's required specifications, then your doorbell chime should ring. You can also configure the doorbell so it sends a notification to your Google Nest Hub(s) and/or Mini, if you have them. Maybe this help page will help: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10899820?hl=en#zippy=

No it is a stand alone battery door bell. No intent to wire. Just want the Google Nest hub to play a chime when the Google nest door bell is pressed. Some forums are saying the Google mini can even play a chime when doorbell is pressed?

You SHOULD be able to go to your doorbell in the Google Home app, select Settings, and then turn "Visitor announcements" on, in order to get a chime and then an announcement on the Google Hubs and minis.

That's what's driving me absolutely nuts, I've done exactly that and then Google nest on the kitchen bench won't make any kind of announcement when the door bell is pressed. I'm like do I have to run out and buy a mini to make the door bell ring?

Are they using the same user account? On the same wifi network? Have you rebooted all devices and your router? Mpis is right, a hub should ring (mine does) .. so I suspect a settings issue.

I would definitely try doing a Factory Reset of the Doorbell, remove it from your account and set it all up again. That will default the settings though, so make sure to adjust your settings to what you like once that has been done. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

So it's resolved!

I purchased a Google mini. I set it up in my Google home. I reset to factory settings my doorbell. I then re-set up my doorbell. It now announces via my Google mini. Still doesn't want to announce via my Google nest hub, maybe being the 1st Gen it doesn't do that? But hey it's announcing via the mini so I'm happy! Plus I confess I'm an Apple iPhone user so have used Google mini as a Bluetooth device to play my Apple Music so we are all happy with our solution. Thanks for your help.

I am very relieved to hear that it has been resolved for you! It wouldn't work on the 1st Gen Hub, but it could on the 2nd Gen hub. But I am glad that you have it set up with the Google Mini! I love my Google mini. Because the issue has been resolved, I am going to go ahead and lock this thread. If you have any further questions, please create a new thread. Thanks!
