Two notifications for one event

The setup is

1. Four indoor wired cameras and one doorbell.

2. Household setting shows two users with identical Samsung phones.

3. Presence sensing is setup and working.

Problem: I get one notification for a camera event on my phone. The notification displays my Google account.

My wife gets two notifications for the same event. One notification displays my Google account and the other shows her Google account.

How can we eliminate her extra notification?

We don't have an Android phone, but is it possible on an Android phone to log onto the Google Home app twice, from two different Google accounts? Or is your wife logged onto something else on her phone with your Google account?

I thought about that, but it's impossible because she has just one Google account -- and it's the one that appears in the Home app settings.

Is your wife's phone by any chance receiving email from your gmail account and her gmail account?

Thanks for linking to the thread. I tried following the instrux from janthadeus, the Community Specialist. But it doesn't match my Home app. And unfortunately, the thread's locked.

Steps I've taken that haven't resolved the two notifications on one phone problem. These apply to both phones:
* Verified the Android's Date and Time settings are correct and automatically set.
* Confirmed that Google Home has permissions to use the phone's location.
* Checked Google Home is the current version.
* Verified the Android OS is up to date.
* Tested that the issue persists on both Wi-Fi and cellular data.
* Power cycled the phone.
* Removed the problem Home household member, reinvited, checked preferences.
* Force quit Google Home.
* Uninstalled and reinstalled Google Home.
I did not follow these steps:
Log back into Google Home. (Need instrux on how to do this.)
Clear cache and storage. (Need confirmation that settings will remain intact and no harm to other Google apps.)
Reset app preferences. (Need instrux and details on what this will do.)

Hi folks,

I’m sorry for the delay. I appreciate your efforts trying to turn off duplicate camera notifications from your wife’s account.

Here’s how to sign back into your Home app:

On your Android phone > open your Home app.
Select Sign in with Google > sign in with your Google Account.
On the top right, look for your profile image. If you see it, you're already signed in. If not, you aren't signed in.
Check if your wife’s account is also signed into your Home app by clicking the drop down arrow next to your email address.
The other way to turn off camera notifications from your wife’s account is to remove her account from your device. Have a look at this guide: Sign out and remove accounts.

@janthadeusI'm having trouble understanding the Household settings. Currently, Household has two people, me and my wife. Clicking either name shows the Access details and we're both Managers and Devices shows All devices. If I remove my wife from the Household, she'll obviously no longer gets notifications.

If on the main Home page (lights, routines, settings, cameras) I change her account to my account (by clicking on the image on the upper right), her notifications will show just me and not two notifications, correct? But that would also remove her from Presence Sensing, screwing that up royally...

I'm feeling a little dumb -- my account isn't listed anywhere on the Home app on her phone. One of your associated listed a way to check, but it was for an iphone; I'm on Andriod.

Thanks for getting back to us. Try going to the settings of your wife's Android phone and search for accounts. You'll see the apps where your account/s are linked. Try looking for Gmail, Google, Google Home app and Nest app then check if your own account is linked. If in case it's linked then please remove it.

I found my account on her phone. It's there so we can share a Google Keep account. I deleted my account. Standby until tomorrow when we leave the house and Presense Sensing turns off.

Removing my account from my phone eliminated the extra notification on her phone.

But here's the weird history:

For two months everything worked as it should. She got one notification even though my account was on her phone.

One camera was defective and when I replaced it with one Google sent, that's when she began getting two notifications from all the other cameras (total four cameras and a doorbell).

Thoughts?

Hello steve711,

It usually happens when there’s multiple accounts in the Google Home app that are getting notifications at the same time from the camera or cameras. It’s applicable for both account owner and member. Turning off notification from one account in the app or removing the member’s account from your device would do the trick.
