I have set up google nest doorbell on my phone but how does my wife get alerts on her phone as well ??

Go to Settings | Household in the Google Home app and invite her to be a member of your "household". She has to have a Google (gmail) email. After she installs the Google Home app on her phone and accepts the invitation, she can set up notifications for herself in the Google Home app.
