nest doorbell battery - no chime

bought my parents the nest doorbell (battery) for christmas and we have installed it now but seems like there is no indoor chime option? its greyed out and wont ring. How can we make this work? a doorbell that does not ring is not usable. This is the first google product we have in the house.

We have it connected on an IOS and android system but neither had the ring sounds

The "Indoor chime" option is automatically grayed out and disabled if your battery doorbell is running on battery power alone and is not wired or connected to an indoor doorbell chime and transformer. If you have an indoor doorbell chime and transformer and you want it to ring, you'll have to wire it to the doorbell.

thank you for the quick reply. so its not actually a doorbell then? is there instructions on how to wire it to the existing indoor doorbell system then or where and what sort of transformer is needed?

I'm just another Google Nest customer.

The Google Nest Help page below has instructions for either a battery or a wired installation. The wired installation assumes you already have a doorbell chime and transformer and are connecting to existing doorbell wiring.
