How to disable the motion sensor on a wired cam+floodlight so that it won’t trigger the floodlight?

I can disable the camera, but I don’t see a way to disable the floodlight after dark.

is the only option to cut the power with a manual switch?

Open the Google Home app .
Touch and hold your camera.
Tap the settings cog and then What turns on the floodlight.
Tap the switch to turn Motion off.

Hi David,

I think your suggestion might work well. Is there a way to toggle this setting via a Routine?

Also, does this actually turn off the motion sensor electronics? My hope is it does, just like when I turn off my Nest doorbell the sensor itself is disabled. As a sabbath observer, this is important to me.

That I'm not sure of I'm afraid, but the floodlight certainly shouldn't turn on if that setting is turned off.

On a Nest Camera/Floodlight with all the settings turned on (high sensitivity), and with the camera motion sensor working fine and recording on the camera, is there a reason why motion wouldn’t turn on the floodlight? I can turn it on manually (through the Home app), but motion doesn’t seem to turn on the floodlight (even though like I said, motion does activate the camera…) Thanks!

PogoBrian, let's see what's going on. When did it start happening? Have you tried turning off and on What turns on the floodlight settings in the Google Home app to see if that helps? Also, you can try restarting your Nest Cam with Floodlight to refresh the connection.

Hi Archie,

2 questions

if I disable the flood from triggering via the motion detector, set the brightness to 0 and I turn off the camera too, is the motion detection hardware fully turned off?

I do the above via a scheduled event and seems to work correctly. but I also schedule the camera to turn back on 2 hours after sunset and to keep the light off but brightness at 100%. When the event triggered it left the flood in an On state with brightness at 10%. Any ideas what I did wrong?

also, I found a bug if I schedule the floods to motion detect again with 100% brightness , they sometime turn on with random brightness levels.

I was able to work around it by scheduling a second event right after that turns them off, in case they got turned on. Silly, but thought I should mention it.

These devices are meant to work together, so my answer would be no, that generally isn't going to work if you do not want motion events to turn on the floodlight. It is built to do just that.

You misunderstand; I want to be able to fully turn the units off, esp. the motion detection, without powering them down physically.

I am sabbath observant as well and looking into the various Google Nest camera options (particularly wired doorbell and floodlight) were you able to deactivate the sensor altogether?

So the answer here permanently disables the motion sensor for the floodlight. I'd like to be able to set up an automation so I can say "patio party" and it'll disable the motion sensors, then I'll have them by default turn the motion sensors back on every night after midnight.

I searched the script commands and couldn't find one that would let me toggle the motion sensor for floodlight, is there a way to request this api?
