Another thread about the cam charging problem

my google cams have always had problems recharging after the battery reaches 0%.

after several attempts by disconnecting the cables and reattaching them at a certain point they managed to charge.

now they just don't charge anymore, I've been trying to charge a cam for three days but the battery is always at 0% and the cam is off.

I tried to use both the nest cam support, the 5m and the 10m cable

I have read all the discussions on the forums, someone says that the cables are not capable of recharging the cams, in any case I have tried with any of your cables and supports.

I find this absurd

Hi. I'm having what sounds like the same problem. We have an outdoor cam that we originally would pull down after a month and recharge. No problems. Then we bought two cables to make the camera's "hard wired". Now every night, the battery runs empty then miraculously the next day is fine. Very frustrating.

Is your power cable seated securely in the bottom of the camera and is the cable feeding towards the FRONT of the camera as it should? I've seen posts from customers who have had issues with both, or with defective USB plugs or even defective cords or cameras that wouldn't charge.

It SHOULD work; we've had a battery camera for almost 17 months, plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable, and it's remained "Live" and the battery has remained charged the whole time. When we check the battery setting, it shows as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol. If we unplug the camera, the battery is always at between 80% and 100%, though I haven't checked for awhile. Maybe we're just lucky.

Of course the cable is inserted in the right way, I've been using these cams for over a year, and you just need to see the internal pins to understand the direction of the cable.

In any case I have always had these problems, I thought it was my problem, but I understand that it is a common problem, a defect of all the cables or the cams?

after 3 days of being plugged in with the cable it miraculously started charging today, it finally turned on and is at 2% now.

I hope google finds a solution as soon as possible.

I'm just another Google Nest customer, and certainly didn't mean to imply anything. Some customers have discovered their cable was connected incorrectly. I do think the USB plugs are not very durable; the USB plug has simply broken for some customers. Other customers whose cameras weren't charging discovered they began to charge after they jiggled the USB plug.

sadly the articles didn't help me.

after three days connected to the electricity it finally started to recharge.
it was plugged in total 5 days, after unplugging it i realized that it was only 25% charged.

I have the same problem with all cams

At temperatures below freezing, the lithium-ion battery in your Google Nest camera or doorbell won’t be able to charge. The batteries in Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery) have the following minimum temperature requirements:

Minimum operating temperature: -4 °F (-20 °C)
Minimum charging temperature: 32 °F (0 °C)

At temperatures between -4 °F (-20 °C) and 32 °F (0 °C), the battery can still power your device, but it won’t charge. It may also drain more quickly than usual. At temperatures close to -4 °F (-20 °C), your battery may have less than half the life that it has in warm weather. Check out this link for more information.

thanks for the info, the temperature was around 6 celsius outside, while inside (where i try to charge the cams) it averages 18 celsius

Thank you for the clarification you provided. When it comes down to charging in a colder climate, lithium-ion batteries are not always going to perform at full capacity. Though these devices are made to be outside depending on the model, they are still susceptible to colder climates. As long as you can bring the device indoors to charge occasionally, see if that has any improvements on battery life and follow any of the other troubleshooting steps we have sent.

I thought I already answered.. I always recharge the cams inside, the temperature average is 17°C, it's not a cold climate.. the other guides aren't helpful
