Doorbell won't mount to plate

I am having issues mounting my doorbell back into the mount. The mount button at the back of the doorbell seems to be stuck and when trying to mount the doorbell, the bell doesn't stay securely. Very poor design in my opinion.

I know this may not be helpful, but I used Velcro strips with the mount to hold my doorbell up I don't recommend it though if you don't want it to get stolen. hope I could help! 🙂
