Ugh, thanks. It's just so terrible I can't believe they even released it to the public. So disappointing

When our Nest Hello doorbell died we replaced it with the wired 2nd gen, because we like the integration with all our Google home hubs and hub max. But the software using the doorbell with the Home app is abysmal compared to the Nest app. The motion notifications are worthless because it only give you a small initial snippet/GIF of the person just starting to walk toward the door, then it stops. Then if you actually tap on that motion notification it only shows you the first few seconds of them approaching, then stops right before the person actually gets to the door or does anything! Does anyone else have this problem? It's so much worse than the 1st gen Hello in the Nest app, which was perfect. I also can't do a quick scrub in 10 seconds increments like I could in the Nest app, where I could go to live view then just tap the 10 second back button a couple times to rewatch everything that happened. In the Home app I have to try to scrub by dragging the timeline which makes it jump way too much time. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong in setup/use or if it's just legitimately bad software with the 2nd gen/Home app? It's very frustrating

Unfortunately you are experiencing what so many of us here on this forum have experienced starting well over a year ago. Google is in the process of moving the functions of the NEST app over to the GOOGLE APP but it is taking a very long time. And as you have discovered the new gen cameras don't work with the NEST app.

When I discovered this I returned the new camera and got a 1st gen camera from an ebay seller and I'm very happy. At some point when the Google Home app becomes as good as the NEST app then I will look to move forward to the new line of cameras.

Hi everyone,

@Jako607, thanks for posting here in the Community. We understand your concern about why some features from the Nest app are not available in the Google Home app. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. I'd suggest you send feedback about your concern using this form to let the Google Engineering team know about your concern. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this after 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

I appreciate the help, EmptyNester.

Best,
Emerson
