Nest cam outdoor power plug

Just a question about the outdoor power cord. Is this an actual direct power cord or does it only charge the battery? I'm asking due to cold weather and issue with battery drain in cold Temps. Does the power cord help with battery issue?

The weatherproof cable and adapter powers the camera so it doesn't need to use the battery. At temperatures below freezing, the battery won’t charge, but as long as the wired power source is available, the camera can operate in temperatures down to -4°F (-20°C).

We have had the battery camera for 22 months, and it has stayed on and "Live" in Minnesota winters with temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Yes, thanks everyone. My question was answered. I really wa t to get a couple of outdoor cams and a couple of indoor cams. I really like the idea of powered vs battery for 24/7 recording and in the event of power loss I assume the battery would take over for motion events during the outage.
