Nest IQ Outdoor Flashing Red Circle After Power Outtage

I have my camera linked to an access point at my barn. After a storm (power went out for a few seconds), I noticed the camera didn't come back on. That evening, I saw the red circle. I went and unplugged the camera, waited a few minutes and plugged it back in; that didn't work. I then noticed that I was having AP issues. So -- I then tried to just change the wifi network of the camera...

When I opened the Nest app and tried to connect to the camera (standing below it, with my phone about 8' away), I was unable to have my phone connect to the cam. I tried this 4-6 times, and my phone would never connect to the camera.

Am I going to have to remove the camera (from my account) and re-install it like it's a new camera, in order to simply connect to it? Thanks!

I can't tell exactly what happened in your case. When you say unplugging the camera for a few minutes "didn't work", what exactly happened? Did the camera simply not come on at all, with no lights on the camera? And I don't know what to make of the Wi-Fi access point issues that happened at the same time.

Sorry for not clarifying -- it was flashing with the red ring. I didn't know this was a power issue. I unplugged it, waited, and plugged it back in and the red ring started to flash again. It's just odd that all this happened after a power outage. I wonder if the camera has developed an issue, or the wall adapter??? I'll check out your links. Thanks!

Well, sometimes power outages caused by lightning are accompanied by a brief power surge. Perhaps the power adapter for your IQ camera was damaged. Unfortunately, Google Nest does not sell the power adapter anymore; it's been "out of stock" for months (https://store.google.com/us/product/nest_cam_iq_outdoor_weatherproof_power_adapter).

You could also try unplugging your USB cable a few times, just in case there's a little corrosion on the USB plug.

Hmm... That's not what is powering my device. The IQ is mounted on the outside of the barn. The cable runs inside, and the USB-C cable connector plugs into an adapter that then plugs into the wall. I guess I'll just try any old high-speed charging adapter and see if that will provide adequate power. Or, I'll 1st try another outlet...

I was referring to the adapter that's midway on the cable between the camera and the wall outlet. I've seen posts on Reddit and elsewhere from people using some other adapter as a replacement; I just don't know what the specs would be for that.

I only know what the specs say in the Google Store link above for the power cable that is out of stock.

Here are the power ratings of the adapter for the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor:

AC adapter input: 100-240V AC, 50/60 Hz, 0.65A
AC adapter output: 15V DC, 1.87A
Camera input: 15V DC, 1.0A
Power cable connector: USB Type-C

Lance -- thanks for the reply. Oddly enough, even though my AP only shows now in my wifi analyzer as being in "failsafe mode," my IQ was working when I got home yesterday. Maybe there was some moisture causing an issue after the heavy rains? Who knows...
