Hello! I can't seem to find an answer to my problem.

I have the 2nd Gen wired doorbell with 2 chimes in the house. The puck has only 2 wires. I've tried connecting the puck to either box they never ring. The online diagrams I have found show a puck with 4 wires. Do I need to get another puck? Or does anyone have a wiring diagram that would work.

Thank you!

@Sandypandy

It depends on whether your 2 chimes are wired in series or in parallel. If they are wired in series, you'd connect the chime puck to the chime puck that is connected directly to your doorbell.

If they are wired in parallel, you might need a chime puck for each of your chimes, but I'm not sure about that. Unfortunately, Google Nest does not sell spare parts, but you could try contacting Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp) to see if they'd furnish one.

See this post from a year ago for a discussion on the issue (with the older Nest Hello doorbells):

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/2-Nest-Hello-s-Front-Door-and-Back-with-2-Chimes-one-for-main-level-and-one/m-p/299804

The older Nest Hello Doorbells have a 4-wire chime connector, but that has nothing to do with whether there is one chime or two.

We have tried every conceivable combination, still not working. Would a second puck be the answer? Are they available? We had a ring doorbell, it worked great we just wanted to be able to take advantage of having a doorbell work with our hub. We are considering returning it, obviously we would prefer for it to work correctly. We are very disappointed. Please help!

Hey folks,

@Sandypandy, thanks for getting back to us. The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) has higher power requirements than most doorbells. For some installations, you'll need to replace the transformer for your doorbell. You need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your doorbell. If you've already installed your doorbell and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your doorbell isn't receiving enough power.

Give these steps a try:

Check the wiring diagrams from our public article "Upgrade your transformer for Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen)".

Guide for Installing Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen).

I appreciate your response, MplsCustomer and Edmond.

Regards,

Emerson
