Nest Doorbell (battery) won’t announce visitor or chime on my Google Nest Hub

Both the doorbell and hub are installed, are in the same house, and are on the same network. I have push notifications turned on for the doorbell in the Google Home app and “Do Not Disturb” is NOT activated.

If the doorbell ‘sees’ a person or package, I do get a banner notification on my iPad, but nothing on the Hub.

And if someone rings the doorbell, there is no chime or notification on the Hub, nor a notification on my iPad.
But for this post, I am focussed on getting the doorbell to communicate properly with the Hub.

And why is this so hard? My first Nest Doorbell (Battery) could not hold a charge for longer than a week. So, I’ve been pretty frustrated with this product overall.

Do you have "Visitor announcements" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451)turned on in the Google Home app for your doorbell?

I don't know why you don't get a notification on your iPad when your doorbell is rung.

We still have the older Google Nest Hello Doorbells. Because I saw so many posts about the battery camera in this forum, we got a Nest Hello Doorbell and an OhmKat power adapter instead of a battery doorbell for our third door a year ago.

Yes, I have visitor announcements enabled, that is what I meant by push notifications. Strangely, I do get a notification on my iPad, but not the Google Nest Hub, which is where I need the notice. Unfortunately I don’t have power at this location.

That's peculiar. Can you view your doorbell's camera on your Nest Hub?

We get "visitor announcements" on all of our Nest Hubs, but we have the older, wired Nest Hello Doorbells.

Actually, yes, I can view the doorbell on the Hub, if I manually flip to it.

Maybe there's a defect with the battery doorbell.

I just installed a wired Gen-2 doorbell and already have a Hub Max installed. I can ask the Hub Max to show the doorbell and it will stream the video, but if the button is pressed, the old doorbell chime rings, but there is no notification on the Hub Max. Yes, Visitor Notification is turned on.

At my vacation home I have a Gen-1 wired (managed through Nest app) and a gen-1 Hub, which work perfectly.

Why might my notifications be failing to display on the Hub Max??
